On our previous social media venues, amateur radio did not transmit or receive much excitement; only 4 CFL members pursued & received their amateur radio operator's license. I'm baffled by the apparent lack of interest, but here's another shot at it.
Amateur radio is a subcategory of preparedness. On this forum it has its own subcategory.
Amateur radio is a fantastic asset --
- in the event of emergencies
- if the SHTF
- if cell &/or landline phone service is interrupted
- if internet is interrupted
- in the event of an extended power outage
- if you're in the boonies or beyond cell phone coverage & need assistance
- if you're on the road & need to pass info between vehicles or to/from services where you are traveling
- while you're busy & need both hands but also need to pass information
- for routine sharing of information & the cell phone is too slow (example: you & spouse are at different locations in a steel-shelled building, & you need to communicate -- wife is in the produce department, & I'm in the meat department)
- and the list goes on...
Attached is a list of basics. I'm hoping that insight & foresight gains traction & many more CFL members go after their licenses. If you have questions, need info, or wish to chat about this topic, please message me on this forum.
